Wow ya'll... what an eventful week!

I just got back from Washington - our Nation's amazing capitol! I love that darn city. The feeling you get there is so powerful, so awesome. It was mighty windy, blustery and cold, but I already can't wait to go back (in nice weather) and have some time to sit outside on the Liocoln Memorial all afternoon, my face up to the sun, picnic on the stairs just taking it all in... ahhhhhh. :)

I had a full week and it was so awesome. Tuesday night was the National Guard Youth Challenge Gala. What an event!! They raised over $1 million dollars for the program... Dale Earnhart Jr was at my table, one of the BIG Fox News anchors, Senators, governors, and more... so cool! It was a pleasure to perform and be a part of that night. I so believe in the program and think it is SO INCREDIBLY important. TENNESSEE WE NEED ONE!!

The next day I got to go to the senate building and listen to a panel supporting the program. It was so enlightening to be in Washington seeing how things happen... I was so official! :) The WWE wrestler MVP was on the panel and I found out he's good friends with one of my good friends. Small world!

That afternoon I moved hotels and got to go to the Ritz Carlton!! Holy smokes that place is nice. We had a dinner for America's Adopt A Soldier and I got a service award! It was an honor to be recognized... I don't feel like I do that much, in fact I always get a lot more from the folks I'm trying to give a little smile to than anything! But it was still so nice to get an award! :) Helping our military, their families and our vets is the best! Hey I just rhymed! haha

The next day was a busy day! I got to sing the National Anthem at a ceremony for one of our wonderful military men at Walter Reed hospital, then I got to go into another area of the hospital and sing a whole 30 mins! It was so great to be there and chat with our soldiers for a little while... was so glad to be there! After that, I left to go to the National Guard building and sing the Anthem for the Change of Command ceremony. I signed autographs and took pictures with everyone there. Happy to have met everyone!

I finished out the week at a fundraiser at the Tysons Cole Haan store Thursday night... it was benefiting America's Adopt a Soldier. It was great!! I got some really awesome boots and a jacket - whoohoo!- and got to sing a bunch! The people at Cole Haan were so sweet and kind and helpful! I hope to go back and do another event sometime soon!

Well, we woke up Friday morning to leave DC and head back to Nashville... and guess what happened?!?! Flights cancelled. Huge Storm in the Northeast. Not snowing in DC but 40-50 mile an hour winds. OH NO!!!!!! We spent hours on the phone trying to get out... but there was nothing. SO after much discussion and even though we were worn out from the week, we hoped in a rental car and DROVE BACK TO NASHVILLE! 10 hours! It was craziness but we had to get back so there ya go! You do what you gotta do! :)) It's all good, we're back safe and sound and ready for another great week! More soon
